STAROXY Wall 2k
Product Description :Staroxy wall 2k is two component water based epoxy polymide membrane/barrier coating. Approved for use with potable (drinking) water, independent testing confirms conformity with the requirements of AS4020.2005 and SS375-2001. It is excellent waterproofing system can withstand even negative water pressure
Features:
• Prevents rising damp and the formation of efflorescence when used as a single coat barrier coat.
• Non-flammable and negligible odour.
• Can be applied to damp surfaces.
• Can be safely applied to freshly laid hardened (green) concrete.
• Conforms to the requirements of Australian Standard AS4020.2005
• When applied directly to the substrate the cured membrane will withstand 250kPa of hydrostatic pressure which is equivalent to a 25 metre head of water. Can be over coated using almost any decorative or industrial finishing paint.
• Has excellent adhesion to most substrates including brick, masonry, concrete block, concrete, stone and timber.
• Easy clean-up using water.
Area of Application: :
• It works as a waterproofing moisture barrier coating over freshly laid hardened concrete, prior to the application of conventional levelling compounds, carpet and tile adhesives.
• It works as a low water vapour transmission coating in the building and construction industries.
• It work as a hydrostatic pressure resistant waterproofing membrane to prevent water seepage or dampness penetration through to the interior of walls and floors.
• It work as a waterproofing barrier on the negative side in below grade surfaces such as basements, tunnels, lift wells, retaining walls and car parks.
• It work as a waterproofing membrane in tanking applications, including potable water containment.
Method of use:
1. Concrete:
Should be free from grease and oil - if necessary, clean with industrial
grade degreasing agents. Once clean, steps must be taken to remove
laitence, this is best carried out by using:
1.1 High pressure water or wet grit blast. It is not necessary to dry the
concrete before applying the Barrier coat.
Damaged surface should be repaired. Prime with Barrier coat. While
still tacky fill voids with a mortar made 1 part mix to 2 parts
sand/cement mix. Leave at least two hours before over coating with
Barrier coat. If sanding is required leave a minimum of 12 hours.
2. Painted Surface:
Steps should be taken to remove all paint.
2.1 Concrete & Masonry – The surface may be either flame-cleaned,
or mechanically treated with a scutching tool.
3. Brick, Sandstone, Plaster. Brick etc, should be clean and free from dust, loose material and efflorescence.
4. Fibre Cement
Should be clean and free from dust.
● 1. PRIMING :
Application of Primer : It is designed and specially formulated as an adhesion promoter primer. Use one coat of Staroguard Prime for best results.
2. SPECIAL INSTRUCTION : Stir the contents of the drum containing the material thoroughly to disperse settled material if any. Application should be on properly levelled surface with brush or roller. Always apply 2 to 3 coats of Staroguard PU IWC for a proper finish.
COVERAGE :
Coverage depends upon the nature of the surface to be applied. But an average, smooth surface will give approx. 80 to 100 sq.ft per coat.
Physical Characteristics :
Pot Life: :45 – 60 minutes @ 25 deg centigrade
Coverage : Coverage – Smooth Surface
1st coat 4-6m2 per litre
2nd coat 5-7m2 per litre
This coverage depends on surface porosity and water addition. Decrease in
coverage by up to 50% on rough surface can be expected.
Properties of Components Resin Component (Component A)
Base appearance : White Homogeneous Liquid
Specific Gravity @ 25degree Centigrade: 1.5+ 0.5
Volume solids : 44%
Non Volatile Content % 65+1 ET 4
Viscosity @ 25 degree C (mPa.s): 19000-25000 ISO 2555
Hardener Component(Component B)
Appearance : Beige/Tan Opaque Liquid
Specific Gravity @ 25 degree C : 0.95 + 0.5
Viscosity @ 25 Degree C (mPa.s) : 65,000-110,000 ISO 2555
Clean Up :
The first coat should be thinned with water, as required depending on the porosity of the surface to be coated (up to 20% for dense surface to 5% for more porous surfaces) to ensure optimum penetration. Thinning of the second coat should be avoided since this increases the difficulty in achieving the required dry film thickness. A third coat can be applied as required. Wash all equipment in water or water/detergent immediately on completion.
Shelf Life: Shelf life of 24 months when stored in the original, unopened packaging in a dry place at 23ºC and 50% relative humidity.
Storage & Self Life:
The product should be stored in accordance with national regulations. It should be kept in a cool, well
ventilated area, away from heat, direct sunlight, sparks and children. It contains inflammable solvents. Handle with care.
Mix resin and hardener as per the ratio. Use the mix solution within the pot life time.
