Staromastic 54: Mastic

Product Description :It is a specially developed epoxy mastic coating intended to be applied on inadequately prepared surfaces. It is a surface tolerant coating owing to its excellent wetting ability on the substrates. It is a two component, ambient curing system, which when mixed together in the recommended ratio, cures to a hard coating which has excellent adhesion and chemical resistance.

Uses:

Used as a universal primer for compromised surfaces where no grit blasting is employed as surface preparation methods. Highly recommended for steel. structures, pipelines, tanks and offshore platforms.

Advantages:
 Surface tolerant  High solids  Excellent adhesion on compromised surfaces  Excellent corrosion protection

Recommended DFT ASTM D 1186: 100 microns

Drying time ASTM D 1640
To touch : 1-2 hrs
To handle : 5 – 6 hrs
Hard dry : 24 hrs
Full cure : 7 days

Direction of use :
Remove oil, grease and any other contaminants by using solvents. Make full use of mechanical tools, manual chipping or wire brushing to remove loose rust and scale. No grit blasting is needed. Stir the resin part thoroughly and then mix one part of resin with one part of hardener by volume. Mix in small portions enough to last for 2 hours or less. Apply by brush or spray. Allow to dry for 4 hours. Now the surface is ready to receive intermediate or top coat. If the time is lapsed for more than 24 hours to receive subsequent coats, the primed surface needs to be abraded to have mechanical key for subsequent coats. If the time is lapsed for more than 24 hours to receive subsequent coats, the primed surface needs to be abraded to have mechanical key for subsequent coats.

Storage & Self Life:
The product should be stored in accordance with national regulations. It should be kept in a cool, well ventilated area, away from heat, direct sunlight, sparks and children. It contains inflammable solvents. Handle with care. Mix resin and hardener as per the ratio. Use the mix solution within the pot life time.

Packaging
available in 20 kgs packs and has a maximum shelf life of 12 months in the un-opened condition

Handling & Safety
Observe reasonable care and employ ordinary hygienic principles such as washing the hands with soap and water before eating or smoking. It is recommended to wear gloves, goggles and nose masks while application. Incase of splashes on the skin, dampen the cloth with thinner and wipe the hands with the cloth. Wash then with soap and water. Dried film is non toxic. Incase of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Incase of continuous exposure to vapours, the applicator should be immediately moved to get fresh air.
